TESTIMONY:

In 1975, I became a single parent. I was a Los Angeles policeman. In 1977, I left the department and became a private investigator and police coordinator on location filming in Hollywood. I did not attend church. But did not believe that I was God of my own universe according to some New Age (EST now Forum, by Jack Rosenburg, AKA: Werner Erhart) training I had attended.

On a Sunday morning in September 1979, my daughter asked me if she could go outside and play. I said, "Yes." As I watched her walk out of the living-room to the front yard, I realized that I did not create her from an erector set or form her with my hands. I knew in my heart there was a God but never considered who He might be. The supreme being (I was a Free Mason). I started to talk out loud, "Oh, God. Here I sit feeling sorry for myself when you have given me my daughter. She is healthy and to me she is beautiful. I have a home and a refrigerator that is full of food. What more could I ask for. Thank you."

Instantly, in the twinkle of an eye, I was caught up into the light. I was in the Spirit. Running-set free. Absolute freedom, love, joy and peace. I was crying and laughing at the same time in absolute joy. I was running like a calf released from the stall. Then the light spoke, "Come with Me." Instantly, I knew the voice of the Light to be "the Rock" (Hebrew: Tsur, One (Mighty) God). I continued to run as fast as I could. I marveled. There was no pain, I was not tired, I touched myself in disbelief to see if this was real. I was feeling absolute love, peace, and joy. Then the light spoke again, "Come with Me." This time, I knew that voice of the Light was Jesus. I knew that he has all power, all authority. It caused me to stop in my tracks. I was afraid yet felt free to speak. I said, "I'm not ready."

Instantly, I was back in my living-room in shock. Then I felt myself being lifted from the couch and started walking across the room to turn on the television. I thought, "What am I doing?" The room was full of an awesome power. My body was charged. I could feel electricity running though me. Now I know it was the Holy Spirit. When I turned on the television, I saw a football stadium full of people shouting, laughing, waving at the camera. My eyes were opened spiritually. I could see each and everyone through their eyes. As if I was looking into their souls. I felt love for them all. Then I realized that God was showing me how he loves us all. I could feel His love. Then it dawned on me that He loved me too. I said to myself, "He loves me too." I knelt down and started to cry.

Several weeks later, I was working on a movie at Zuma beach with seven retired and active Los Angeles policemen on motorcycles. We were about to get off work when I told them what had happened when I was caught up into the Light. One believed me. He invited me to his home because he wanted to give me something. When we got there he went into the house and returned with a book. It was the Bible. He gave it to me and invited me to church. That next Sunday I was there. I could feel the pulling of the Holy Spirit! It was in my chest. I felt like crying. When the service started, the first song they sang was Emanuel-God with us. Then I knew that Jesus is god.

A few weeks later, I was working on Stir Crazy with Richard Pryor at the Lincoln Heights jail. We were having a Bible study with some teamsters and I had been witnessing to Pryor. We took a break for lunch. The food was the best Hollywood could produce. I told the camera man that I would watch his camera while he went to eat. I placed my tray on a small ladder and thanked God for my food. I was overwhelmed with the power of the Holy Spirit. I looked up and saw Jesus coming toward me. I said, "Partake of my lunch with me in love." I waved a greeting and said, "Hi. How are you." Then he was gone (Revelation 3:20). One of the teamsters showed me Mark 16:16. Then I felt conviction. I knew that I must make the commitment and be baptized lest I be damned. I called the church and inquired, "What must I do to be baptized." That Sunday I went to 'Church On The Way', Van Nuys, California, with my daughter. I testified that Jesus had spoken to me and I read Mark 16:16. I was baptized with the minister reciting Matthew 28:19, "I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost."

My daughter and I were escorted to a prayer room where a family prayed with me and laid on hands. I received the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues as the spirit gave the utterance. When I was attending their new converts class I disagreed with their Trinitarian doctrine and recited Isaiah 9:6, "Unto us a child is born and the government shall be upon His shoulders and His name shall be called the wonderful counselor, mighty God, ever lasting father and prince of peace." Two years later, I visited my parents in O'Olitic, Indiana. They were ill and I felt the Lord wanted me to move to Indiana. He proved it was his will by all of the doors he opened for me to get there. O'Olitic (Greek: fish roe in the stone- i.e., limestone looks like compressed fish eggs). Jesus told Peter He was going to make him a fisher of men.

A few weeks later, I went to a small county church that was having a revival. I testified that Jesus is God. They believed me. That was the first time someone did. I felt relieved, I was not the only one. I heard for the first time about being baptized in Jesus' name. Being an investigator I decided to check it out. I went to the Bedford public library and researched baptism. According to history and scripture there is only one baptism, i.e., in Jesus' name (Acts 4:12). Then Donnie and Phyllis invited me to their home for supper where they explained the word more accurately to me (Acts 2:38). I went back to the apostolic church and said, "Baptize me in Jesus' name."
